Wedding | Maggie & Christopher | Alton Bay, New Hampshire

I first met Maggie and Chris back in February/March 2018 when they hired me as their wedding photographer.  Maggie really wanted freshly fallen snow for their engagement pictures and she wanted the photos taken at the lakefront property where they would be getting married six months later.  If you know me, you know there are few things that I dislike, and you know that snow and bone chilling wind being blown off a body of water are two of them. But what can I say, a bride gets what a bride wants! So I drove the hour and a half (which turned into two hours because I got lost) to Alton Bay, New Hampshire to take Maggie and Chris’ engagement photos.

I’m complaining, but really, it was great that I went up their before the wedding because I knew exactly where I was going for their big day and I got to meet these two amazing humans! Their engagement shoot went great (me falling flat on my ass on ice and all; don’t worry the cameras were safe)!

Fast forward to September 8, 2018, their wedding day, which was exactly a week before my wedding day. Oh I know how insane I am for shooting a wedding exactly one week before my own, but I am so, so glad I did because these two reinforced what getting married and loving another person is all about and made me even more excited for my upcoming wedding!  Their day was so heartfelt and sweet that I teared up multiple times during their ceremony and reception.

Maggie and Chris did their first look on the dock and then had their family and wedding party formals taken before the ceremony.  We had to watch the time closely to make sure Maggie wasn’t outside when all of the guests arrived!

The ceremony was set up overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee between the two adjacent houses that Maggie and Chris got ready in.  There was a beautiful string quartet who entertained the guests as they arrived and set the mood. Maggie and Chris’ ceremony was quick and heartfelt with a few laughs thrown in there showcasing their easygoing personalities.

The guests were moved across the street to a huge wooden garage that was transformed into one of the most elegant reception spaces I have ever seen, really speaking to Angela’s talent and skill when it comes to wedding planning and coordination.  The garage had long wooden tables and chairs set-up with beautiful linens and floral arrangements, gorgeous in its simplicity.

Maggie and Chris’ mom stayed by the lake to bustle Maggie’s dress.  Chris’ mom looked up at me while trying to find the bustle hoops and said, “I love this girl, I finally got a daughter and I couldn’t have asked for a better one.”   Que tears welling in my eyes.

After the dress was bustled, we did a few more formals of Chris and Maggie before moving across the street to join their guests.  There were first and parent dances, toasts, dinner and partying. All the while Maggie never stopped smiling and Chris never stopped admiring Maggie.  A wedding day I will truly never forget.

Congratulations to Maggie and Chris, I wish you all the love, smiles, and warmth a life can hold!
